Associate Attorney
We’re seeking a passionate and talented associate attorney with 3-5 years experience in family law to join our practice. As part of our firm, you’ll play an integral role in contributing to strategic problem solving to achieve superior client outcomes. You will work closely with our experienced family law attorneys, receiving mentorship from them, while contributing to and helping further shape our firm culture.
You will assume immediate responsibility and play a key role in a variety of family law matters, including divorce, property distribution, custody and child support, while working with multiple partners.
An ideal candidate will have the following:
- Admission to the Maryland and DC bars, and in good standing in both.
- 3-5 years of experience practicing family law
- Excellent legal research, analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage a caseload effectively and efficiently (as first chair or second chair)
- Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team
- Self-starter with excellent organizational skills
- Sound judgment, high integrity, trustworthiness, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Work from our Bethesda office (with the option for hybrid work after a probationary period)
- Participate in networking opportunities and attend bar-related events
- Engage in business development and work toward originating cases over time.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediation sessions, and other legal proceedings as necessary. Negotiate with opposing counsel on behalf of clients.
- Communicate with clients regularly to gather information, explain legal concepts and keep them informed of the status of their case.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on a variety of family law issues.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, agreements and other legal documents.
